Aggregates, as used in the building industry, are a wide category of coarse and fine particulate material that includes sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag, recycled concrete, and geosynthetic aggregates. Aggregates are the world’s most mined materials. Aggregate adds strength to composite materials like concrete by acting as a reinforcement.
JY Enterprises Inc provides aggregates to prospective clients. Our crushed aggregates are classified into four types: G1, 3/4, 3/8, and sand.
The ASTM “Standard Specification for Concrete Aggregates” or ASTM C33/C33M is the source of these sizing guidelines. The percentage of material that passes through wire-mesh sieves with square openings determines particle size. Fine aggregates are sieved using seven standard sieves ranging from No. 100 to 3/8” and coarse aggregates are sieved using 13 standard sieves ranging from No. 16 to 4”.
